What I’m doing now

Giving up on tracking

I’ve tried tracking word count, tracking hours, and tracking projects – none of which seem to make me write with any noticeable increase in quantity or quality. All it seems to have given me is the confidence that, yes, I can work respectable hours and not be a lazy slob about it, which has been a major fear over the last few years. So I’m giving up on tracking for a bit to practice trusting my instincts. Let’s see what stories happen.

Project Orellia

The restarted draft of book 5 is now halfway. I‘m liking the concept, but feeling very constrained by the scope of the story. I can already see what changes are needed once all the books go into revision, and they’re not small. But my goal is to get Book 1 out sometime in late 2026 🤞

Until We Met Again

This book is now in the hands of my lovely readers. You can check it out here.

Satine

Part 2 has been drafted and now awaits revision. Part 3 is in draft. Both are intended for release in the first half of 2026. Check back (or join Dot Club) for details when Part 1 relaunches. It came out in 2017 so it’s due a little tidy-up after nine years!

Who am I? 👩🏻‍💻

G’day, I’m JL. I write love letters to the future, most often in the form of romantic science fiction and fantasy (also called “science fantasy”). From here, you can check out my books and stories and keep up with my work via Dot Club (my nerdy, slow, low-noise email newsletter).

By the way, this is a Now Page. Here's how to make your own.
